Recently Disney Pictures has released Bolt on DVD. Everyone in my family thinks this is a wonderful film! It is a coming of age, adventure film that is so well written that it keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire time. Vocal talents John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Mark Walton and Susie Essman really turn this animated feature into a heart warming story about a dog that stars in a TV program that is fiercely loyal to his young girl co-star. Bolt believes that his fictional TV world is real and that the forces of darkness are trying to harm his "person". Bolt gets lost and the adventure we are presented is his story of returning home to find his person along with the travel companions he picks up along the way.

I really can't tell you how much we all loved this film! In any movie, no matter how wonderful your special effects, animation, or photography are, without a great story telling, the movie falls flat. This movie is about as round as Rhino's hamster ball! This is a wonderful story and the creation of the crazy hamster Rhino was a stroke of genius. Also allowing first time voice actor Mark Walton to portray this character was also a stroke of genius. What a great voice!

The bonus features are fun. You've got the story about the new directors: A New Breed of Directors: The Filmmakers' Journey; Act, Speak! The voices of Bolt; and Creating the Word of Bolt; but of course our favorite was the film short SUPER RHINO. Bolt is a dog with super powers and we have seen many before; Super Dog, Underdog...but a hamster with super powers! Now, that is creative! We also loved the Act, Speak, as it is always interesting seeing the voice actors' work in real time and how much of their expressions the animators are able to use to create the onscreen character.

Other items include a game and art gallery of early concepts along with the music video "I Thought I Lost You" performed by Travolta and Cyrus.

And finally one of my favorite features of this release is the digital copy! You get it all with this DVD, Blu-Ray, NTSC and a digital copy. So, no matter where you need to see Bolt, he can always be there.

I highly recommend that you get this DVD now from your favorite store!
