Marvel Q&A!

Greetings, and welcome once again to MasterCollector for our sixth round of questions from us and answers from Hasbro regarding their various Marvel Comics-related action figure product lines!

As you know, Hasbro is the primary toy licensee for the action figure world of the Marvel Comics Universe, which includes such action figure lines as Marvel Universe, Iron Man 2, Spider-Man, and certainly forthcoming in 2011, Captain America and Thor, based on their live-action movies! They have generously offered to reply to several questions throughout the year. What follows are those posed by MasterCollector for the sixth session:

MC Question #1: With action figure lines coming out next year for both the Captain America and Thor movies, and with Iron Man perhaps continuing, will there be any sort of unified design or presentation in the packaging for all of these lines leading into the eventual Avengers movie?

MARVELQA: The answer to this question is just around the corner. You'll see the final packaging for all these lines at New York Toy Fair 2011!

MC Question #2: To what degree is the character selection of a given assortment of figures (Iron Man, Spider-Man, Marvel Universe) influenced by the number of figures within that assortment that can be designed using existing tooling vs. those requiring mostly or entirely new tooling.

MARVELQA: Usually, the team comes up with a list of all the characters / costumes we want to do for the full year. We give heavy consideration to collector / fan wishlists and throw a few of our personal faves in the mix as well. Then we lock ourselves in a room and fight it out. The balance between new and existing tooling is definitely one of the factors into the decision process.

And you thought the battles between super-heroes and super-villains were intense...

That's all for this round. Until next time, take care!
